December - Part Two

Henry made his first trip to the land of milk and honey (CALIFORNIA!!) in December. Here he is riding one of the space pod transporters at Dulles:

Henry slept through most of the flight, which made the trip pretty easy for mom and dad. We were greeted upon arrival with torrential rain... Good thing Santa travels by air, because all of our local roads were flooded. Check out the Nelson driveway:

Come hell or high-water, we were determined to get Henry's picture taken with Santa. It was an interesting drive, but we made it!

Per the DeValentine family Christmas tradition, the ladies of the family spent an afternoon making raviolis at Gram's house. The recipe has been in the family for generations, although we've modified it a bit from it's traditional form (just say no to mad cow disease... we no longer use calf brains).

Jenna & Aubrey getting ready.

Gram blending the filling

On to the pasta (a rather happy looking pile of flour)...

Kneading the dough...

Rolling it out until it is paper thin and can be blown off the cutting board, and then rolling the raviolis...

And the finished product. Bellissimo!

Henry looks forward to tasting some next year.

After enjoying ravioli day, the Bingold family came by for the evening on their way up to Tahoe. It was so great to see them and to meet the newest Bingold, baby Andrew. We were so happy to see them that we mostly forgot to take photos, but here are a few of Andrew and Henry meeting for the first time.

Andrew is clearly wondering why this dude is so pale, and why he has such lousy head control.
